FAQ

Most commonly asked questions

We've outlined some of the most commonly asked questions we receive however if you can't find the answer you're looking for you can always contact us.

What is your cancellation policy?

We appreciate that life is a juggle and schedules change so if you need to change or cancel your appointment we require at least 24 hours notice or you may incur a late cancellation fee of 50% of the value of your appointment. If you do not show up for your appointment and have not been in contact via phone or email you will forfeit 100% of the booked appointment fee. You can cancel your appointment online by clicking the link in your booking confirmation/reminder email or by dropping us an email to info@buffnailstudios.com.

If you do not cancel and do not show up to your appointment, you will be charged the full cost of your service.

How long should my polish last?

A number of factors can impact the wear of your polish such as your existing nail health, how you use your hands day-to-day and what they come into contact with. We've outlined below a guide of the typical wear time for our clients before they may start to see general wear and tear:

  • A Performance Polish manicure should last from 5-10 days
  • A Gel Polish manicure should last 2-3 weeks
  • A Super Gel Manicure should last 3-4 weeks
Why don't you offer SNS?

SNS is a powder based acrylic and requires a dipping process for application. Due to the hygiene issues related to this application we have chosen not to include it as a part of our service menu. If you like the durability of SNS we would guide you to select our “Super Gel Manicure” service, it is long wearing and can be infilled every 3-4 weeks or simply soaked off.

Are your polishes pregnancy safe?

Yes, all our polishes are safe during pregnancy.

What is your "Chip-free Guarantee"?

Our “Chip Free Guarantee” guarantees you a flawless polish application for up to three (3) days for standard performance polish, five (5) days for gel polish and seven (7) days for Super Gel / BIAB. Simply give us a call or drop into the studio and we will organise to get it touched up free of charge.

Unfortunately some chemicals and products we come into contact with day to day can impact your polish. We recommend those of you who work in jobs that require very frequent hand washing (health care workers) or contact with potentially corrosive chemicals to wear gloves where possible to maximise your wear time.

Do you offer group bookings?

Yes - you can make a group booking online through our booking engine for up to 6 guests. Alternatively, if you're unsure what services you're after or what's right for you and need a little guidance simply drop us an email at info@buffnailstudios.com and we'll be happy to assist.

If you are looking for exclusive use of one of our spaces, please contact us with the details (preferred location, date, time, #guests, nature of event) and we'll be in touch.

Can you book a mani/pedi at the same time?

Look we get it, we all lead busy lives and we're all about efficiency however due to the nature of the tools and standard of work we hold ourselves to we do not offer a combined mani/pedi service in one. Our nail artists undertake very precise, detailed work and need appropriate lighting and positioning to give you the finish we want to deliver. We focus on quality nail prep and polish application, ensuring that your hands and feet are thoughtfully tended to and rushing through this process means we can't deliver on this promises.

Can I bring my own nail polish?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own nail polish if you have a particular colour or brand preference, you can drop a note on your booking if you'd like to do this. However, we also have a wide range of high-quality polishes available for you to choose from and happy to try colour match for you.

How do you sterilise your tools?

Hygiene is in our DNA and we take it *very* seriously at BUFF. We will never reuse something on your hands or feet unless it has been sterilised prior to minimise any health risks. All metal tools go through a 3-step sterilisation process. They are soaked in specialised tool detergent, run through a ultrasonic cycle before being sealed up and then processed through an autoclave*. Any items that can't through this process are either disposed of or gifted to you to take home for personal use.

*An autoclave is a machine typically used in healthcare settings that uses steam under pressure to kill harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores on items that are placed inside a pressure vessel. The items are heated to an appropriate sterilisation temperature for a given amount of time. The moisture in the steam efficiently transfers heat to the items to destroy the protein structure of the bacteria and spores.
